Lip enhancement will aim to both prevent and improve the signs of ageing so that you’ll be able to enjoy younger, plumper lips for longer.

Hyalauronic acid-based fillers are used. This substance is naturally found in the body and these fillers are the gold standard.

What areas of the lips can be enhanced?

Vermilion border, which gives the outline and improves definition and minimizes lip bleed.
Lip augmentation (volumisation)The upper and lower lip can have filler injected into it, giving more volume and substance to the lip.

We attempt to make the procedure as painless as possible.

The fillers we use also contain a local anaesthetic

Additionally:

A topical anaesthetic …Emla cream, is applied 20 minutes prior to the procedure, this numbs your lips making it more comfortable for treatment.
A local anaesthetic injection can be given (dental block) which completely anesthetises the area.
At Bingham Cosmetic Lip Clinic, we prefer using the anaesthetic cream (Emla) as in our experience the Dental block injection distorts the anatomy of the lips. Injecting the lips is artistry of the highest level to achieve balanced beautiful lips.

Safety of Dermal Fillers?

Aftercare?

Avoid touching the lips or applying makeup for 24 hours after treatment. This is to prevent infection.
Ice packs can be used to reduce swelling for 48 hours post treatment
Avoid taking aspirin or burfen as this make increase the risks of bruising
Strenuous exercise, sun exposure, sun beds, steam sauna should be avoided for 1 week after treatment.
Keep lips moisturised especially at night post treatment with Vaseline

Suitability for treatment?

Dermal filler treatment is not recommended:

If you are suffering from any skin infection in/ near the treatment area.
If you are unwell in any way. even a minor illness
Injections around the lip area that can trigger cold sores viruses. Please inform us if you are a recurrent sufferer. We can prescribe lip anti-viral treatment e.g. Zovirax tablets.
If you have previously experienced allergic reactions to any dermal filler or local anaesthetic.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, e.g. aspirin, steroids, warfarin. or have autoimmune disease.
